Jewish New Year 5786 | Your Year!
Yearly Theme: Nations Will Come to Your Light
Nations Will Come to Your Light
Isaiah 60: 1 Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. 2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. 4 Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the arm. 5 Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come.
In John 17, Jesus’ high priestly prayer reveals that consecration amplifies through exclusivity—when believers are set apart entirely for God, their spiritual impact intensifies rather than diminishes. Jesus prays for disciples who are “not of the world” (v. 14-16), sanctified by truth (v. 17), and belonging exclusively to the Father (v. 9-10), demonstrating that undivided devotion creates concentrated spiritual power like light focused through a lens. The paradox is striking: by being exclusively God’s, believers become more effective in reaching the world, as their unified glory and protected purpose validate the gospel message (v. 21-23).
Partial consecration dilutes impact through mixed loyalties, but exclusive devotion—”for their sakes I sanctify Myself” (v. 19)—creates a purified channel through which God’s power flows unhindered. This isn’t restrictive legalism but liberating love, transforming ordinary disciples into world-changers precisely because they belong entirely to the One who created and redeems all things, proving that restriction leads to expansion and that God’s greatest power flows through lives that hold nothing back from Him.
This Is Your Year: A New Creation in Christ
The Jewish year 5786 ends with the number 6—the number of man, created on the 6th day. But this isn’t about fallen humanity struggling to reach perfection. This is about YOU as a new creation in Christ, restored to your pre-fall identity. Before sin, Adam walked in God’s glory, ruled from rest, and lived in unbroken fellowship with the Father. In Christ, that same glory is yours again. You’re not the incomplete “6” striving for “7”—you’re the redeemed image of God, seated in heavenly places, clothed in light.
This is your year to arise and shine, not from effort, but from who you already are in Him. Stop striving. Start shining. Your light has come. You’re not the incomplete “6” striving for “7”—you’re the redeemed image of God, seated in heavenly places, clothed in light.
